Connecting with Kids

This week Joe admits that he's been a bit harsh on parents the past couple weeks and tries to correct his ways by joining Anita in offering some practical times to help parents not only spend time with their kids, but do it in a way that helps the kids to grow up glocal.

Along the way Joe and Anita share their thoughts on the keys to glocal parenting, they ponder the oddity of calling pesticide coated food conventional, and Anita shares a baked cinnamon apple recipe that produces the tastiest glaze ever!

1. This past week has been one

This past week has been one of those where keeping connected to the family has been really difficult. It just seems like when I'm available, Anita and Robbie aren't, and when they're available, I'm not. I have to say, it's been really frustrating.

Well, tonight I had about 45-minutes from the time I got off work and before my evening meeting. Typically, I'd go straight from work to the meeting, but, because Robbie had been asking for me, Anita stopped by work and we decided to take advantage of that time and grab dinner together. It wasn't a lot of time, but I was able to hold Robbie and talk with Anita while we munched on Chipotle. It wasn't much, but it provided the needed connection.

I guess my whole point here is that it isn't about making lots of time, but just being intention about making the most of minutes that are available.

2. I like the Productive

I like the Productive Parenting idea. Hopefully I'll get to use it some day!

3. Until then, use the first

Until then, use the first couple years of marriage for lots of kid making practice.

4. Article Fodder

Here's an article Anita wrote that was published in an online magazine as a result of this show: http://www.mom-stuff.com/Children_Global_Awarenes.html

Enjoy!
